Cristi Ramon Ochoa/Deputy Securities Commissioner
The Work of the Securities Commission in Protecting Investors

Our speaker this week will be Cristi Ramon Ochoa, Deputy Securities Commissioner for the State of Texas.  Before being named as Deputy Securities Commissioner in early 2024, Cristi served as a staff attorney in the Inspections and Compliance Division for eight years.  She received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law.  With the robust growth in the Texas economy and the opening of the Texas Stock Exchange, the work of the Securities Commission in protecting investors becomes heightened.  The Securities Commission plays a prominent role in taking actions against fraudsters and schemers.  It routinely opens 400-500 investigations per year.  Recently, it has been highly active in cryptocurrency investment areas.  Historically, the Commission has a 96% success rate in its enforcement activities.
